What exactly is middle age? It is commonly defined as a person who is between the ages of 40 and 60 years old. The most visible evidence is when you start questioning yourself. What are the possible causes of middle-age spread?

The main factors that cause middle-age spread are: 

  • Decrease in metabolic rate of body.
  • A shift in hormone balance
  • Lack of exercise
  • Having chronic diseases

It is often said that once you have finally hit middle age, it would be the peak of your career. There will be lots of socializing where you would consume high-calorie food. As the metabolism declines, the function of the body becomes weaker. Thus, fat would accumulate quickly at the waist and abdomen. Hormone imbalance is the result of constant stress and staying up late every night. All of this would eventually lead to obesity.
